Other affiliations

I am also an advisor of SegmentFault (the largest developer community in China), PMC Member of Apache Answer, the deputy secretary of the Chance Open Source Foundation, an executive member of the Open Source Development Committee at the China Computer Federation, and the organizing secretary of the Open Source Professional Technology Committee at the China Institute of Communications.

What areas of the Board’s work do you see yourself contributing towards?

KAIYUANSHE has built a strong foundation of collaboration with OSI. Since joining OSI as an Affiliate Member in 2016, we have achieved significant milestones together.

Notably, we invited Tony Wasserman, a former OSI board director, to our 2018 China Open Source Conference, marking OSI’s 20th anniversary.

We have made significant efforts to translate OSI’s high-quality content into Chinese, contributing to the promotion of open-source culture in China. For instance, in the past years, we fully translated and published all 17 videos from the OSI-led “Deep Dive into AI” webinar series. We have also translated the OSAID and organized a closed-door meeting with KAIYUANSHE’s Advisory Board, inviting members of China’s open-source community and enterprises to discuss and provide feedback on OSAID.

During 2023–2024, we actively participated in the Open Source Congress held in Geneva and Beijing. At the 2024 Open Source Congress, I assisted OSI in coordinating the invitation of panelists for the Open Source AI panel discussion and successfully delivered the panel.

Furthermore, we assisted in getting OSI’s approval for the Chinese open-source license, Mulan PSL (version 2), and have recently submitted Mulan PubL license (version 2) for approval.

This year, I am eager to deepen the collaboration with OSI and act as a bridge between the Chinese community and the global open-source ecosystem. The rise of DeepSeek has brought China’s AI ecosystem to global attention. In the era of Generative AI, there is a wealth of cutting-edge research and practices in open-source AI within the Chinese community. Moreover, the number of open-source users and developers in Asia has been rapidly growing. Therefore, it is critical to amplify the voices of Asian open-source developers, communities, and businesses actively participating in open source.

As the Chairperson of the Board of KAIYUANSHE, the largest non-profit open-source community in China, and a representative of an OSI Affiliate Member, I aspire to serve as a bridge between the Chinese and global open-source communities. Specifically, I believe I can bring diverse perspectives from Asia to OSI and help amplify OSI’s voice among more participants in Asian open-source communities. Additionally, I am committed to actively contributing to OSI’s community building and events organization efforts.

What goals do you hope to achieve for OSI and the world of open source by serving on the Board of Directors?

As a passionate advocate for open source and an experienced community builder, I aspire to bring diverse perspectives and foster stronger global collaboration within the OSI. My primary goal is to serve as a bridge between the Chinese open-source community, one of the fastest-growing ecosystems in the world, and the global open-source community.

With my leadership roles at KAIYUANSHE and deep involvement in open-source governance, I have facilitated impactful collaborations with OSI, such as the approval of Chinese open-source licenses (Mulan PSL v2 and Mulan PubL v2) and translating OSI’s educational content into Chinese. I’ve also organized events like the Open Source Congress and contributed feedback to OSI’s OSAID initiative, ensuring that voices from Asian developers and enterprises are included in global discussions.

If elected to the OSI Board, my focus will be on amplifying OSI’s mission and vision in Asia, a region with rapidly growing open-source adoption. I aim to:

1. Strengthen OSI’s engagement with Asian communities by increasing outreach, partnerships, and translations of OSI resources.
2. Advocate for the participation of more Asian developers and enterprises in OSI-led initiatives, particularly in critical areas like AI, governance, and sustainability.
3. Support OSI’s operational efforts through my experience in event organization, community building, and cross-cultural collaboration.

By leveraging my background, I hope to help OSI expand its global impact and ensure open source remains inclusive and accessible to all.
